An In-depth look at Tarot Reading

Spiritualism and the occult play a unique role in most of our lives, especially when we are faced with some difficult choice or get stuck up in our lives. We expect a quick solution to our earthly needs and expect a clarity in deciding the direction we must take to fulfill them. At this juncture, we more than expect divine interventions or some guidance that may lead us on the path of fulfillment. We seek these from fortune tellers, astrology and what not. Tarot reading is one of the best ways in this regard.

Tarot reading has grown a lot over the years and it is still growing at a very fast pace. These readings tend to ease the confusion in one’s mind and help in getting over the inner conflict one faces through interpretations of tarot cards. But to seek the answers that trouble us, we should know the basics of tarot reading and how it claims to be a clairvoyant’s potent tool.

Tarot reading is done by interpreting the meaning of the cards that the seeker draws up from a deck of cards. There are different suits consisting of unique cards that try to explain the situation or the circumstances one is passing through. One of the biggest myth surrounding tarot reading is that the drawing of cards determines the future, but it does not work like that. In reality, the drawing of cards represents the past and the present of the person concerned, depending upon the action they have already taken. Thus it reflects the interpretation of future as of one’s actions if he does not change the course of it. It also provides insight towards what may happen if we take a certain decision. Practically it helps us to see the answers that we know by ourselves but has little clarity in following it.

Tarot reading is generally done by asking the seeker to choose a card from a deck of cards called Tarot cards. It consists of two major suits known as major arcana and minor arcana. The major arcana consists of 21 unique and different cards namely the Chariot, Hermit, Emperor, Empress, Moon, Sun, etc, along with potentially most important card known as the Fool. The minor arcana consists of 10 numbered cards and four face cards namely the Page, Knight, Queen, and King. This is further divided into 4 suits namely, Wands, Pentacles, Cups, and Swords. Each of the suites contains 14 cards and the whole suit contains 56 cards. An expert tarot reader interprets and explains the combination of cards as drawn in the order of choosing the cards from the deck.

Though the basic working of tarot cards is same across the region, there are few variations in the process followed in different parts of the world. There are also different variations and style to choose from. These are differentiated on the basis of region, and the seriousness of the problem. The readings vary from general tarot reading too in-depth reading catering to one specific issue or the question that is asked. The reading is also done for a different aspect of life like love, career, relationship, wealth, etc., and is believed to provide deep insight for tackling the pending issues. The choosing and drawing of cards also vary from region to region. Their variations are even found in a number of cards chosen and ranges from 3 to 10. The versatility of the tarot reading has been proven to be diverse and readers are known to apply different methodology and styles to address the issue at hand. The overall growth and variations are growing every year and are getting developed as a cult form itself.

Generally, tarot reading has been considered as pseudoscience and it has been proven to have no scientific basis. Still, its popularity is skyrocketing on a regular basis. Those who have consulted tarot cards had claimed to receive huge benefits from it. They had also claimed that it actually helped them to solve daily life problems by making them a better and confident person. Though the non-believers claim it as fluke and rejects its authority, they had been unsuccessful in denting people’s enthusiasm regarding tarot reading and its interpretations,
